Transformational Relationship

Alexa took part in the first year of the FIA Women in Motorsport mentorship program as a mentee.

Looking to Connect and Share Advice

Alexa's reason for joining the program centered on connection with other women in the sport. "I thought it is a great way to connect with other women in this sport to share experiences and look for advice."

A Connection That Crossed Backgrounds

What stood out to Alexa was how quickly common ground formed, regardless of where she and her mentors came from. "No matter where you are from, what is your cultural background or in which area of motorsport you and your mentor work, I always felt like we were immediately on the same page, had similar experiences in the work environment and could share valuable advice with each other."

She also points to the trust that built quickly within the relationship. "There was always a lot of trust from the first meeting on to also talk about difficult topics."

What Her Mentors Brought to the Relationship

Alexa had two mentors during her first year in the program. She describes both as bringing a similar quality to the relationship. "I felt that they both had a lot of empathy and a lot of interest to not only lead and teach, but also listen and share experiences and advice both ways."

That two-way dynamic left a lasting impression. "This dynamic of the mentor-mentee relationship impressed me very much and also inspired me to apply as a mentor for the second year of the program."

Her Message to Anyone Considering the Program

Alexa's recommendation is broad and direct. "Every girl or woman who works in motorsport should join this program. It is a great way to not only get to know more women in this sport, but also use this as an opportunity to develop and grow together."
